| Ecclesmachan from the east | |
| The village of Ecclesmachan itself can be described as a quiet backwater, a sleepy friendly country village just over the brow of a hill from teeming civilisation. To climb the hills on either side, leaving behind the bustle and rush of modern commerce and industry and descend into Ecclesmachan, is to visit a more sedate and peaceful world. There is no shop, post-office, or public house and for as long as records can be found this has been the case. Village life in different times has revolved around the village green, the smiddy, the church or the schoolhouse. | |
| As a means to help navigation, we should point out the site has been carefully colour-coded, watch for the background colour! We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that this site is non-commercial - no advertisements or banners! | |
| As a last word of introduction to this site, please feel free to congratulate, criticize, or make suggestions on its improvement. Click on the contact link, which will take you an enquiry form we have provided. It took several months of research, programming and hair pulling to create; that doesn't mean it's perfect or 100% useful, nor does it mean the site is finished, there is more research under way... Meantime we hope you enjoy your 'virtual' visit and will come for a 'realworld' visit soon. | |
